Starting prices. The final price depends on size and condition; we measure for free and quote in writing. We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is added to our labour; where a price says “+ VAT”, that is the VAT our supplier charges on the materials, passed on at cost.
How much does carpet fitting cost per m²?
Our carpet starts at £7.99 per m² + VAT. Fitting is priced after a free measure because the total depends on the room shape, the number of doorways, stairs and landings, the underlay you choose and whether old flooring needs lifting and taking away. A small bedroom with one doorway costs far less to fit than a staircase with winders, so we quote the job in writing before any work starts.
Laminate, LVT or carpet: which is right for your room?
- Carpet for bedrooms, stairs and living rooms where warmth and quiet matter.
- 8mm waterproof laminate for hallways, living rooms and rentals that need a hard-wearing, easy-clean floor.
- LVT for kitchens, bathrooms and anywhere that gets wet. It is fully waterproof.
- Tiles for kitchens, bathrooms and splashbacks.
What happens on the day
We confirm the measurements, lift and remove old flooring if it is part of the quote, check the subfloor, lay underlay where needed, fit the floor and add thresholds and trims at doorways. You get before and after photos of the finished job.
Before we arrive: what to prepare
- Clear small items, ornaments and anything fragile from the room. Tell us when you book if large furniture needs moving.
- Laminate and engineered wood should sit in the room for a day or two before fitting so they adjust to the temperature.
- Doors may need trimming to clear a thicker new floor. We check this at the measure.
- New concrete screeds and recently plastered rooms must be dry first, or damp gets trapped under the floor.
Subfloors and older Ilford homes
Many Victorian terraces and 1930s semis in Ilford have suspended timber floors upstairs and sometimes downstairs, with uneven boards and gaps. A hard floor laid straight on top can creak or move. We may screw down loose boards, overboard with ply, or level with a compound before fitting LVT or tiles. Solid concrete floors at the back of older houses can be damp, which needs a damp-proof membrane under laminate or LVT. We check moisture and level at the measure, so the quote covers the preparation the floor really needs.
Flats and leasehold rules
Many leases for flats ban hard floors, or require acoustic underlay so the neighbours below do not hear footsteps. Check your lease, or ask your managing agent, before choosing laminate or LVT. We can supply acoustic underlay where the lease asks for it.
