How much does kitchen fitting cost?
A standard kitchen supplied and fitted starts from £1,950. A complete kitchen with hob, oven, extractor, sink and plumbing starts from £2,850. The final price depends on the number of units, the layout, the worktop, and whether walls, floors or electrics need work. We measure for free and give you a fixed written quote.
What is included
- Removal of the old kitchen
- Base and wall units, doors and worktops
- Sink, taps and plumbing connections
- Appliance fitting on complete kitchens
- Tiling, flooring and decorating if you want the room finished in one go
How a kitchen fit runs
- Measure and plan. We measure the room, mark pipes, drains, sockets and the gas point, and agree a layout that works for cooking and storage.
- Order. Units, worktops and appliances are ordered. Some worktops, such as stone, are templated after the units are fitted and made to measure.
- Strip-out. The old kitchen comes out, and services are capped off safely.
- First fix. Pipes, waste and cables are moved to suit the new layout, and walls are made good.
- Fit. Base units are levelled, wall units hung, worktops cut and joined, sink and taps plumbed in.
- Finish. Appliances, splashback or tiles, plinths, flooring and decorating.
Plan how you will cope without a kitchen. A microwave and kettle in another room help a lot.
Worktops compared
- Laminate: the most affordable, wide choice of colours and stone or wood effects, easy to replace. Avoid hot pans directly on it.
- Solid wood: warm look, can be sanded and re-oiled, but needs oiling and care around the sink.
- Quartz and stone: very hard-wearing and heavy. Templated and fitted by specialists after the units are in, which adds time to the programme.
Electrics, gas and ventilation rules
Moving sockets is common in a new kitchen. New circuits, such as one for an electric oven or induction hob, must meet Part P of the Building Regulations and be done by a qualified electrician. Any gas work, including connecting or moving a gas hob, must by law be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Building Regulations also require kitchens to have extract ventilation, usually a cooker hood ducted outside or an extractor fan. We tell you at the measure what your layout needs.
Kitchens in Ilford homes
Many 1930s semis in Gants Hill and Barkingside have a narrow galley kitchen at the back, and many Victorian terraces have the kitchen in the rear outrigger. Knocking through to the dining room is a popular way to make space. If the wall is load-bearing it needs a structural engineer's design and Building Regulations approval. In flats, check your lease before moving the sink or adding hard floors.

Questions people ask
How much is a new kitchen supplied and fitted in Ilford?
Standard kitchens are supplied and fitted from £1,950. A complete kitchen with hob, oven, extractor, sink and plumbing starts from £2,850.
Can you also do the kitchen floor and tiles?
Yes. We sell and fit LVT, laminate and tiles from our Ilford flooring shop, so the floor and splashback can be done in the same job.
Can you move the sink or cooker to another wall?
Usually yes. Moving a sink means new waste and water pipes; moving a gas cooker needs a Gas Safe registered engineer. We check what is possible at the free measure.
Do you fit kitchens I have bought myself?
Ask us. We can quote to fit a kitchen you supply, once we have seen the plan and checked everything has arrived.
Can you knock through to make an open-plan kitchen?
Yes. If the wall is load-bearing, a structural engineer designs the beam and Building Control approve it. We fit the beam, make good and fit the new kitchen in one project.
Does a new kitchen need an extractor?
Yes. Building Regulations require kitchens to have extract ventilation, usually a ducted cooker hood or an extractor fan.
